SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Gild (http://www.gild.com), the technology provider that's bringing meritocracy to HR with its innovative recruiting solutions, today announced that it closed a $2 million seed funding round led by Globespan Capital Partners and seasoned investor Mark Kvamme.
Gild recently launched Gild Source, the leading solution for identifying, evaluating and profiling developer talent. The patent-pending technology gauges developers' skills by evaluating open source code and analyzing community interaction, peer feedback and code sampling. By measuring actual ability – instead of relying only on resume keywords, employment history or educational background – Gild Source provides verified insights into a developer's expertise, ability and productivity.
Gild will use its seed investment to enhance its technology, grow its team, and expand its already high-profile client base, which currently includes Red Hat, Akamai, Facebook and Box.com, among others.
"Gild's mission of bringing meritocracy to hiring is much-needed. And the fact is, software is ubiquitous, and organizations of every size are looking for great developers," said Mark Kvamme. "With Gild Source, employers from every sector – and every part of the country – now have a way to find skilled developers that they might otherwise have missed."
"We are excited to have the support of experienced investors like Globespan Capital Partners and Mark Kvamme – each industry pioneers that are investing heavily and strategically in the forward movement of employment growth and opportunity," said Sheeroy Desai, CEO and co-founder of Gild. "This funding will allow us to invest in furthering the science of identifying the best talent anywhere in the world. Additionally, Mark's experience as an early investor and board member of LinkedIn has been invaluable."
Gild's Current Investors

The venture firm's managing director, Venky Ganesan, joined Gild's Board of Directors in 2011.   Mark Kvamme is a special limited partner at Sequoia Capital, who currently serves as director of jobs creation for the State of Ohio under Governor John Kasich and previously served on the Board of Directors for LinkedIn.
