RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. and DALLAS, March 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Overture Networks, the industry's trusted Carrier Ethernet solutions provider, today announced that Jeff Reedy, CEO of Overture Networks, has been named one of the "Top 50 Entrepreneurs" by Business Leader magazine. Overture Networks develops and manufactures Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation solutions to help their service provider customers deliver high-speed business services and mobile backhaul.  Jeff and co-founder Prayson Pate formed Overture Networks in 2000 when they recognized that telecom service providers wanted to use packet technology to support an array of new data, voice and video services and applications. This was challenging, because services based on Carrier Ethernet operate differently than those in legacy networks. The goal was to create a world-class supplier of innovative solutions so telecom service providers could respond to the need for more flexible, intelligent bandwidth. Since then, Overture Networks has been leading the transformation to Carrier Ethernet at the network edge. Just last week on March 1, Overture reached another important milestone when the company announced it was merging with Hatteras Networks, substantially increasing its scale, product portfolio and geographic reach.

"I'm honored to be named as one of the Top 50 Entrepreneurs in the Triangle," said Reedy. "Over the last 10 years, I've guided Overture through two challenging economic periods, and we've been able to consistently deliver double-digit annual growth. I am especially proud of the great team we have assembled and the family of award-winning products we have developed. The unique ability of our company's solutions to be simultaneously dependable and cost-effective has helped make us the preferred Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation supplier to over 250 service providers and enterprise customers worldwide."

Overture Networks has found great success in convincing talented and self-motivated people to join the team. A firm believer in the importance of teamwork and communications, Jeff spends a significant amount of time sharing business aspects of the company—from financing and marketing strategy to customer situations—with all members of the team.  He feels that he empowers his team to do their best work by giving them every opportunity to understand and help to solve business challenges.

Jeff was honored at the Triangle's Top 50 Entrepreneurs awards ceremony on March 3rd in Raleigh and is being featured in the March issue of Business Leader magazine. Business Leader has recognized the Triangle's most prominent business leaders as the "Top 50 Entrepreneurs" since 1996.
