Kaminario Offers Video Demonstrations of Solid-State Storage High Availability, Snapshots and Data Replication
Videos show how the Kaminario K2 all solid-state SAN storage manages component failure, creates snapshots for backup and recovers data without impacting performance
NEWTON, Mass., Mar 19, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Kaminario, a leading provider of high performance all solid-state Flash and DRAM SAN storage solutions, today announced the availability of video demonstrations on the key capabilities of DataProtect, the Kaminario K2’s recently announced enterprise-class high availability and data protection for high performance solid-state storage. The videos demonstrate how the Kaminario K2 provides end-to-end, self-healing high availability and fast, high-volume data protection while delivering extreme performance.
The four videos highlight the following Kaminario K2 DataProtect features:
-- High Availability -- This video shows how DataProtect provides enterprise-class high availability and data protection while maintaining high performance. DataProtect’s N+1 hardware redundancy ensures no single point of failure and fast, automatic failover to provide quick, reliable, self-healing high availability. Kaminario DataProtect offers hot-swappable components enabling fast and easy non-disruptive operations and maintenance, and its unique RAID 10HD for fast mirroring and striping across hybrid, Flash and DRAM SSD media, delivering enterprise-class data protection within a single system.
-- High Performance Snapshots -- In this video, Kaminario demonstrates how the K2 delivers fast, high-volume snapshots for backup and recovery and for development and testing without impacting IOPS performance. The video first shows performance figures for running storage I/O on a set of production volumes. The demonstration then creates a snapshot, maps it to the host and runs the same I/O performance on that snapshot, showing that the performance figures between the production and snapshot volumes are equal. The video then shows the I/O performance in parallel on the production and snapshot volumes and demonstrates that the aggregate performance on both is double.
-- Data Recovery -- This video demonstrates how to use Kaminario’s DataProtect to create snapshots and use them to restore a production database that has been corrupted. Data is easily and safely restored to its original state using DataProtect’s capabilities to provide high-speed snapshots and restores for mission-critical backup and recovery operations.
-- Performance Analysis Graphical User Interface (GUI) -- This video illustrates how system administrators can easily monitor and track the K2’s storage performance (IOPS, throughput and latency) in real time. The GUI management console provides a single view for tracking performance from the last week, the last day or the last minute. The GUI also provides an analysis of performance trends over time.

About Kaminario Founded by storage experts from EMC, NetApp and IBM, Kaminario is leading the Flash and DRAM SSD revolution in high performance SAN storage. The Kaminario K2 family of all solid-state SAN storage eliminates I/O bottlenecks and dramatically reduces latency to accelerate critical business applications at a significantly lower cost and smaller footprint than legacy SAN storage. The Kaminario K2 is the first enterprise-grade SAN storage built from the ground up to take full advantage of modern Flash and DRAM SSD performance. With built-in self-healing high availability, a modular scale-out architecture, open X86 components and media freedom of choice, the K2 consistently delivers ultralow latency, tens of GB/s of throughput and millions of IOPS. Kaminario is a fundamentally new and better way to store and retrieve performance-sensitive data. Kaminario is simply faster.
Located in Newton, Mass., Kaminario has built a global network of business partners, including Dell Inc., which resells the K2 all solid-state SAN storage. For more information, visit www.kaminario.com .
