Amobee Ltd. CEO Zohar Levkovitz has won the Ernst & Young 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Northern California in the mobile category. He was the only Israeli among this year's finalists. Amobee develops mobile advertising solutions.
Levkovitz will compete in the Ernst & Young 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the US in November.
The last Israeli to win an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award was Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP) chairman and CEO Gil Shwed, two years ago.
Amobee has won a slew of awards, including the "Globes" Most Promising Start-up of the Year for 2008-09.
Levkovitz told "Globes" by phone today, "Most of the companies we were competing against have more than a thousand employees. Amobee has a hundred. We're one of the smallest companies to become a finalist. In the industry, this title is considered one of the most important in the business world, and gives the company substantial recognition.
Amobee has raised $54 million to date from Accel Partners, Sequoia Capital, Globespan Capital Partners, and strategic investors Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO), Motorola Solutions Inc. (NYSE: MSI), Telefonica SA (NYSE; Madrid: TEF; LSE: TDA; Euronext: TFA; DAX: TNE5; TSE: 9481), and Vodafone Group plc (LSE; Nasdaq: VOD). Its solutions enable advertisers to send advertising campaigns via SMS, MMS, video clips, music clips, games, and mobile Internet. The company acquired RingRing Media Ltd. of the UK for $15 million last year.
