BladeLogic Announces the Appointment of Ed Gillis to Its Board of Directors

Former Senior Executive of Symantec, Veritas, Parametric Technology and Lotus to Serve as Chairman of BladeLogic's Audit Committee

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BladeLogic, Inc., a leading provider of next-generation data center automation software, today announced the appointment of Ed Gillis to the company’s Board of Directors as well as chairman of the Board’s audit committee. Given Gillis’ extensive experience in executive leadership positions at large technology companies – including his role as the CFO of three of the most successful software companies – Gillis will help guide BladeLogic as the company continues to aggressively expand its business on a global scale. With this appointment BladeLogic increases the number of independent board members to four and sets the foundation for governance excellence.

Gillis brings to BladeLogic over 30 years of financial management experience. Most recently, Gillis was senior vice president of administration and integration at Symantec Corporation (NASDAQ: SYMC) where he directed the integration management office, information technology and global operations. Gillis joined Symantec through its merger with VERITAS Software where he was executive vice president and chief financial officer responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's financial management, control, reporting, planning and investor relations. Previously, Gillis was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Parametric Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: PMTC) and chief financial officer of Lotus Development Corporation. Gillis, a CPA and former partner at Coopers & Lybrand, holds a master's degree in international relations from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
